Sante o Puttane – Sacred Pop Icons

FranSisco

3 July 2026 19:00–22:00
Exhibition by FranSisco, whose artistic practice intertwines transfeminist narratives with a bold, pop-driven visual language.
At the core of his work is the female figure, not as a passive icon, but as an active site of resistance against patriarchal structures and gender norms.

Drawing from traditional religious iconography, the artist constructs a contemporary “Sacred Pop Art”, reworking figures such as the Madonna and Jesus into charged, queer visual statements. These familiar symbols are displaced and re-signified, opening new readings that challenge both religious and cultural conventions.

The exhibition presents a selection of prints and sculptural works, engaging with the tension between spirituality, pop culture, and political expression.

Biography

FranSisco

FranSisco, the alter ego of Francesco Angelillo (born 1994 in Taranto, Italy), is an artist currently based in Berlin. After completing a classical education focused on cultural heritage, he moved to Rome, where he began to develop his artistic practice more independently.

His work engages with transfeminist themes through a vibrant and distinctive visual language, drawing on references from pop art and contemporary culture. A central aspect of his practice is the reinterpretation of religious iconography within a “Sacred Pop Art” framework, where figures such as the Madonna and Jesus are reconfigured into queer visual narratives.

His practice spans digital prints and sculptural works.
