The project ‚die andere Hälfte‘ is the investigation of a daily occurance. Finding lost gloves is not unusual. Their loss seems disproportionately significant, for the losing of one glove is more about the breaking up of a ‚pair‘. In truth the remaining glove is, in a sense, also lost, because it too has lost it‘s purpose, both have become ‚without meaning‘. The notion of dependence and collective social need, now emerges within this work. We are left asking this solitary ‚intimate‘ object, what were the circumstances of it‘s loss? The ‚die andere Hälfte’ installation consists of 20 plus shallow ‚boxes‘ protruding from each a photographic record drawing reference to the same glove contained within. Broader parallels are drawn further with each image inscribed with accounts of individual loss as the installation steps between personal perspectives and collective social understanding. Both image and text are conspiring to exposes a inner human condition through a very public happening.
