Neukölln authors from the Fincan Writing Café venture into the unknown through their writing. With “Maps of the Unknown,” they explore the multifaceted spaces between inside and outside, between belonging and alienation, between perspective and point of view.
What does it mean to be inside—and who actually decides where the outside begins? In poems, short prose texts, and literary miniatures, the writers approach these questions from different perspectives. Tentatively, playfully, directly. The texts move along boundaries: between body and city, between personal memory and social reality, between one's own inner self and the world that surrounds us.
“Maps of the Unknown” does not understand borders as markers of separation, but attempts to redraw them as places of encounter. Where inside and outside meet, new perspectives emerge: perspectives shift, the familiar erodes, and a space can open up for stories that connect. The authors of the Fincan Writing Café follow these movements – inside, outside, and in between.
The reading invites you to discover this diversity and embark on a journey together. Between closeness and distance, the familiar and the unknown, texts unfold that question, search, and find new answers. Because writing transcends boundaries.
