Skin as a Metaphor
OODUO | Svenja Kalz & Alischa Kilburg
3 July 2026 19:00 – 5 July 2026 19:00
“Skin as a Metaphor” explores the skin as a boundary, a protective space, and a point of connection to the outside world. Being naked holds a moment of openness - shaped both by a sense of freedom and a state of complete vulnerability. Naked skin inevitably becomes an object of observation and evaluation. But what happens if we look at skin from another perspective? As a boundary to the outside, it offers the body a home, separating and protecting the inner self from the external world.
At the same time, skin carries a connective, relational function: naked skin becomes a point of contact and interaction with other people, the environment, and life in general. It regulates, senses, absorbs, and sends signals. Through the artistic exploration of these aspects, OODUO created a textile installation. Visual and tactile ways of perceiving the artwork as a counterpart become part of the process.
