Threshold oder “die Schwelle”
Galina Kolchina, Anatoly Shabalin K.
3 July 2026 19:00 – 5 July 2026 17:00
Our cultures, languages and histories are not formed in isolation; they emerge through contact, exchange and friction. Identity is not something we hold securely inside ourselves – it is something that happens between us. A person cannot fully appear without the presence of another.
The project works with what already exists in the city. Seven public ping-pong tables across Neukölln become small sites of artistic intervention. Each table features a designed border element – the metal table tennis net – that both separates and connects.
The audience is invited not only to observe but also to play. The simple act of sending the ball back and forth across this transformed boundary makes the experience of the border tangible.
Through this repetitive, playful action, you experience the boundary as a space of play and exchange, and as a form of contact. These tables become sites of interaction - our “small islands of relation”.
The work remains active and accessible throughout the full 48 hours of the festival. There is no opening or closing time: people can join day or night whenever they encounter a table.
