Where do you come from, tangerine?
Berlin Mindful Art Collective
4 July 2026 11:00–20:00
5 July 2026 12:00–18:00
“When I pick up a tangerine with mindfulness, I come in touch with a miracle. A tangerine is nothing less than a miracle. You can see the tree. You can see the white flower and the rain and the sunshine that go into it. They’re still there. And the rain and the fog and the sunshine are going through it. Beautiful. The whole cosmos has come together in order to produce this wonderful miracle, which is a tangerine.”
- Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh
Join us for an interactive, multidisciplinary, and collective art exhibit joyfully centered around the mindfulness practice of "tangerine meditation." We’ll be curating a space where visitors are invited to let go of the boundaries we impose on ourselves and the natural world as something "exterior" to ourselves.
Botanical illustration, large-format oil painting, poetry, calligraphy, a gesture-based interactive installation, woodcut prints, and other pieces of art explore themes of interconnectedness, deep ecology, spirituality, and, of course, the profoundly beautiful tangerine.
Approximately every 90 minutes, we will offer sessions of guided tangerine meditation (tangerines or other fruit provided!). Visitors are allowed the time to look deeply at the fruit, to savor it, and to recognize it as yet another beautiful work of art. By closely observing the fruit and the accompanying works of art, we can re-discover this familiar fruit and ask ourselves what we really see, taste and feel.
A participatory art element, hosted in collaboration with our friends Paz & Giuly of “The Seasonal Artists” (https://seasonalartists.pagy.site/), will invite visitors to creatively explore these themes while connecting with the summer season and each other.

Biography
Berlin Mindful Art Collective
This is an exhibition of the newly-formed Berlin Mindful Art Collective. Our creativity is a beautiful way to connect with each other and with the greater-than-human world. While we express ourselves through different mediums, we are unified in seeing art as a spiritual practice.
Core members include Marta Pang (@pang.marta / @martazmata), Kathryn Rough (@krough_paints_stuff), and Vivien Schulz (@_botanicallyspeaking / alexandraillustration.de). For this exhibit, we are delighted to be joined by Bobbi Bevacqua (@bobbibevacqua.art), Margo Levitova, Katharina Poos (katharina-poos.de), Ronja (@hejronja.illustration), and Kathi Walther, with additional members contributing pieces to the exhibit.
