The exhibition 50 Gramm Kunst – OUT/SIDE/IN presents a collaborative artwork created by school classes, children, young people and adults from Neukölln and beyond for this year’s 48 Stunden Neukölln festival.
Launched in 2021, the project 50 Gramm Kunst invites participants every summer to contribute to a collaborative work of art in the boiler house (Kesselhaus) of the KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art. This year, the project took place for the first time with a focus on the festival theme of 48 Stunden Neukölln. Under the motto OUT/SIDE/IN, artworks were developed either in public workshops or individually at home for the exhibition at KINDL.
As in previous years, the 2026 edition maintained the formal requirement that each artwork weighs exactly 50 grams. From all the contributions, a large, space-filling mobile was created in the 20 × 20 × 20 metre boiler house of the KINDL – a polyphonic collaborative work that is both fragile and powerful and tells of boundaries, inside and outside, as well as shifts, transitions and ruptures.

Biography
50 Gramm Kunst was launched in 2021 as a participatory project aimed at strengthening community and enabling low-threshold access to cultural participation. The project is intentionally open to people of all ages and backgrounds and works closely with schools – including the Hermann-Boddin-Schule – as well as neighbourhood initiatives.
By giving space to local voices within an otherwise internationally oriented exhibition venue, the KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art creates a lively and inclusive exchange. This year, the project is for the first time directly part of the programme of 48 Stunden Neukölln.
