-Four bodies struggle against elastic borders while live guitar distorts the thin line between inside and outside, resistance and intimacy-
BODIES BETWEEN is an interdisciplinary dance performance by DSD Collective, directed and choreographed by Giada Grieco, presented at Prachtwerk as part of 48 Stunden Neukölln.
The work explores the festival theme OUT/SIDE/IN through tension, collapse, and the fragile spaces between movement and restraint.
Four performers move within an elastic environment shaped by stretched rubber bands that form shifting borders in space. Their bodies navigate a choreography of pull and resistance: slow, tentative steps turn into forceful attempts, while controlled gestures dissolve into falls, collisions, and recoveries. The performers sweat, strain, rise, and try again, caught in a cycle of effort that continually redraws the limits around them.
The choreographic research explores the sensation of fight — the fragile tension between love and hate, resistance and attraction, exhaustion and deep connection.
A voice breaks the silence:
“I opened the door.
I am the monster.
I am defeated now, but there must be more.
(...)
Look inside, you might find some light.”
This spoken epilogue reframes the piece. The borders encountered throughout the performance are not only spatial, but internal.
BODIES BETWEEN exposes the fault lines within the self that shape our outward struggles, turning the space into a threshold where inside and outside intertwine.
The installation unfolds alongside a live sound set by Menion, whose electric guitar and experimental textures evolve in dialogue with the dancers’ physical intensity. A 20 minutes performance that invites visitors to circulate freely through the environment, encountering the choreography from shifting perspectives as the borders of the space continuously transform.

Biography

DSD Collective is a contemporary dance collective based on Berlin that works at the intersection of physical intensity, spatial experimentation, and embodied dramaturgy. Formed by emerging artists with diverse cultural and movement backgrounds, the collective develops choreographic works that explore the body as a site of tension, negotiation, and transformation.
The collective’s work often unfolds in hybrid formats between performance and installation, challenging traditional divisions between stage and exhibition space. Their pieces invite audiences into unstable zones where borders blur, identities shift, and meaning emerges from what lies in between.
