Berlin is more than a backdrop; it is a feeling that unfolds to the rhythm of arriving subways and the fleeting eye contact between strangers. In her exhibition for 48h Neukölln, artist Dayra Palacios invites us to rediscover the city through her eyes—navigating the interplay between the sheltered space of the interior and the pulsating energy of the urban outside world.

Dayra Palacios’ work is a love letter to the imperfect and the human within Berlin’s daily grind. Known for her characteristic depictions of people in public transport and her iconic "Berlin Icons," she captures moments we often overlook: the brief pause on a yellow plastic seat, the proximity of strangers’ shoulders during rush hour, or the quiet melancholy of a late-night train ride. Under the title "Berlin from the Inside Out," she explores the boundary between the private and the public. Who are we as we move through the city? And how does the soul of Berlin reflect in its most functional spaces?

In her acrylic paintings on canvas and wood panels, Palacios uses a vibrant color palette and precise observation to distill the essence of the city. Her works—often inspired by BVG symbolism and the unmistakable aesthetics of the Berlin U-Bahn—serve as visual anchors in a constantly changing metropolis. She transforms the mundane into art, making the "in-between" moments tangible.

Visitors are invited to dive into a world where the interior of the train carriages becomes a stage for human stories, and Berlin’s outer world is viewed through a lens of deep empathy.
