For me, the table is not only a place where people eat. It is also a space where people come together, move closer, or drift apart. Who is invited, who remains outside, and which objects can exist side by side turn the table into a space between inside and outside.
In relation to the theme OUT / SIDE / IN, I approach the table from this in-between position. In my paintings, I bring together elements from different cultures and everyday habits on a shared table surface. When bread meets beer, or a Turkish breakfast meets other food cultures, situations emerge in which being inside or outside can no longer be clearly separated. The table becomes a place where boundaries are not fixed, but soft and permeable.
For the festival, I plan to develop new paintings based on my existing table works, focusing on belonging, closeness, and separation in everyday life. The project invites visitors to reflect on their own experiences of being inside, outside, and in between.

Biography
Aysel EROL CALISKAN
In my artistic practice, I use the table as a central image to explore everyday life as an emotional and cultural space. Working mainly in painting, I focus on questions of belonging, intimacy, and distance. For me, the table is not only a place of encounter and sharing, but also one where boundaries become visible. Without depicting human figures, I work with objects, food, and arrangements that suggest relationships, cultural memory, and quiet tension. My work invites viewers to look again at familiar scenes and reflect on their own experiences of being inside, outside, or in between.
