Fully Staged
Serafima Bresler, Angelina Bresler (Kalachenkova)
3 July 2026 19:00 – 5 July 2026 19:00
We will present two central collaborative projects that we have developed together, conceived as “Fully Staged” installations of a theatrical nature with performative elements. In both works, we continue to explore the boundaries of our personal and collective histories, as well as the boundaries of installation as a theatrical stage.
The first project, Have a nice trip!, refers to the tradition of “sitting down for a moment before a journey.” The installation invites visitors to follow the instructions of this ritual before crossing a symbolic threshold. Through simple gestures and textual prompts, the audience becomes an active participant in a moment of pause, reflection, and transition.
The second project, My Moon, is a textile-based installation that evokes the image of a handmade childhood shelter – a fragile fabric house where one could hide from external threats. The work creates an intimate, protective environment while positioning the installation as both refuge and stage.
Serafima and Angelina Bresler will lead a workshop (on Saturday 4.07) dedicated to collective fabric installation. Each participant will write their own instruction or describe a family ritual that helps them navigate crises, change, and sustain family memory. These texts will be created on pieces of fabric using various craft technuques and integrated into a growing collective artwork. The work will continue to evolve throughout the exhibition: visitors will be able to participate during the following days of the festival to add new instructions and rituals, allowing the installation to expand as a living archive of shared practices.

Biography
Serafima Bresler, Angelina Bresler (Kalachenkova)
We are Serafima and Angelina Bresler/Kalachenkova, sisters and artists based in Hamburg and Berlin. In our collaborative projects, we explore shared experiences as a starting point for new works and dialogues, connecting our common history with our individual artistic perspectives.
We have realized several installations addressing memory, migration, and family archives, including Have a Nice Trip! (ICAT Hamburg, 2022; Pushkin House London, 2024) and My Moon (Gruppe Motto, Hamburg, 2023). We develop our works through different media approaches: Serafima works with printmaking and video, while Angelina works with sound and music, drawing on her background in piano performance.
