Borrowed Wind (a memory)
Max Ferdinand
3 July 2026 19:00 – 5 July 2026 19:00
The project Borrowed Wind (a memory) explores the relationship between inside and outside as a reciprocal network of sensation, atmosphere, and memory. The installation originates from a memory: a meadow threaded with clotheslines.
On these lines hang large, light, white fabrics that move with the wind. This image evokes a sense of calm and familiarity:
a memory that feels like my own, yet may not be. A memory I may never have actually experienced. A memory without a clear owner, or one that is simply waiting to inscribe itself into the recollective space of others. This memory is transferred from the outside into the inside, developing there into a tangible, perceptible experience. A space emerges within a closed room where inside and outside intertwine: the outside wind, light, movement, expanse, is consciously brought in, making the permeability of both realms perceptible.

Biography
Max Ferdinand
Max works on concepts and installations that capture, reflect, and transform the everyday into sculptural forms. His practice engages objects and experiences from daily life to make memories, chance, decay, and social interactions visible and tangible.
At the center of his current work are social sculptures and moments of gathering, exchange, and communication. Using materials such as clothesline, fabrics, and stone, he creates spaces where the stories behind the objects unfold, as well as the resonance between people and conceptual art.
