"Metamorphosis" is a diverse approach on the characteristics of metamorphosis in amphibians, and in a more conceptual way, how we interact with our environment in Berlin. I will exhibit my research and findings about metamorphosis, focusing on amphibians such as frogs and what are the truths and perceptions behind their development. My artistic practice has been focusing intensively on frogs since 2023 and I aim to create a description of their life cycle through painting, digital art and installation. Last year, for 48 Hour Neukölln 2024, I created an indoor pond within the exhibition space that the visitor could interact with and played with the idea that we are all oversized frogs living in the marshy-swamp of Berlin. This illustrative and playful approach received a great amount of positive feedback and this year I will extend my practice further by delving into the deep history of frogs and the details about their metamorphosis.
Through my 48 Hour Neukölln exhibition, I will present a detailed life cycle of frogs and strive that each visitor who comes to view the show will learn some truths and perceptions about these playful creatures and also about the history of amphibians and metamorphosis transformations. There are also many myths about frogs that I will clarify and explain the misconception around these myths. Lastly, I will also curate a short video piece on amphibians in Berlin, when the beginning phase of their life usually begins and where one can best find them in the city.
I am excited to combine both playful, childlike paintings with a more in detail documentary on the life cycle of frogs and exhibit these during the 48 Hour Neukölln 2025 festival. Although the biological nature of frogs is complex, I believe through my light hearted and colourful approach, I can convey my findings in an interesting and unique way. It becomes a playground for our curiosity and how we interpret truth and perception.
