Negotiating the question of truth and lies, this interdisciplinary exhibition presents pluralistic Jewish artistic positions that reflect on the current situation in Israel/Palestine and the way it is perceived in German society, particularly in Berlin and specifically in Neukölln.
As Berlin based Jewish people, we notice that there is a monolithic representation of what it means to be ‘Jewish’ in German society, media and press, which does not apply to all of us. Watching the media, one gets the impression that there is only one position of a few ‘decision-makers’, who present their truth as the only justifiable and existing one.
As a group of people from different backgrounds, with different lives and experiences, we want to promote pluralism in Jewish life and Jewish positions. What brings us together is our attempt to reclaim and define ourselves, our values and our identities.
The artists involved are deeply committed to ensuring that Jewish diversity is taken into account. Our attempt is to shatter one-dimensional perspectives and offer multifaceted reflections of Jewish experiences. We represent perspectives from the (trans)diaspora, speak and create communication through our art.
The exhibition explores solidarity and coexistence in a multicultural environment, asking questions that reflect the festival’s central theme: How do we see ourselves and each other?
What biases distort our vision?
How do dominant narratives shape what we see - and what do we overlook? Which Jewish voices are amplified, which remain in the shadows, and why?
How can we live together in a multi-cultural environment?
How can we practice solidarity?
All these questions and more are explored in the exhibition through video art, prints, photography, performance art and sound works, drawing on a wide range of artistic and scholarly approaches and sources. Some works delve into deeply personal stories, while others draw on extensive research to explore the themes from different angles.

We are a collective that has come together for this multidisciplinary project to highlight the diversity within Jewish life. As individuals from various backgrounds, with distinct paths and experiences, we aim to promote pluralism in Jewish life and perspectives. What unites us is our shared effort to reclaim and redefine ourselves, our values, and our identities, in solidarity with marginalized and oppressed communities.
