Jainem Jeong
3 July 2026 19:00 – 5 July 2026 19:00
In front of the Orangerie in Körnerpark, a work in progress unfolds during the festival.
Jainem Jeong works with Hanji, traditional Korean mulberry paper. The paper is carefully placed onto the bark of the eight numbered trees in front of the Orangerie and gently adapted to their surface. Gradually, a tree impression emerges – a direct imprint of texture, growth and time.
At first glance the process sparks curiosity. Slowly it becomes visible how the structure of the bark appears in the paper and begins to take on a new form.
The Hanji used for the work carries fragments of Korean calligraphy from an earlier intercultural project. In this new context the characters reappear as traces of language, memory and cultural encounter.
The colours also come from the site itself. One pigment is made from dried berries of the wild vine growing on the façade of the Orangerie. While new leaves and fruits develop in summer, the work incorporates remnants of the previous year.
In this way the park itself becomes part of the process: nature, material and artistic practice reflect one another – between outside and inside, future and past.
