We invite you to join us in our collective mourning and wake for Brauni, the house we've had the opportunity to call home for these last years, and to get a glimpse into our family portrait and a snippet of our ode to this home.

The program includes:
A documentary that was spurred by the wake up call of an eviction lawsuit lost, and the pending passing of this space and its accumulated history over the past more than 15 years, as well as an outlook into our collective future and a reflection of our shared prospects within the city and beyond it.
A musical album release inspired by the house and its happenings: the stories these walls have bore witness to; the cries and laughter of joy and pain that have echoes through its walls; the tales we tell to remember them.
A 3D experience of the house, through every room and into every corner of it.
A photo exhibit that draws a mosaic of the house and its residents, past and present, to create a family portrait of its history.
A live program so we can live its last moments collectively and share it with all that have come to its funeral.

About the house:
Brauni is a housing project located at the intersection of Richardstr. and Braunschweiger Str. that has been there since over 15 years now, but is however facing the harsh reality of eviction that is increasingly afflicting many similar spaces across the city, usually those that serve as an alternative or counter to the mainstream or commercial spaces that are themselves the implicit cause of this pushing out.
This space has been many things across it's lifespan: a microcosm of fleeting societies; a hub of a multiplicity of communities; a refuge for those banished or othered; a constant project-in-progress that is a house; a home and a family of circumstance and choice.
We are to completely vacate and empty out the building of all its residents and material history by the end of July.

Biography

El Yusser, Abdullah, Pussy, Elliot, others TBA

We are some of the residents that have had the opportunity to call this house a home, all with our separate personal and artistic backgrounds, each hailing from different continents and parts of the world, and brought together into this space through our converging circumstances, we have come together to draw a family portrait for its wake and sing an ode in its mourning.

This is our homage to all of our house mates, friends, foes, and family that have left their mark on this space and a piece of themselves in us.
