How long is now? brings together a series of images and a performative text dedicated to the mythological figure of Janus. In Roman mythology, Janus is the god of thresholds and beginnings. With his two faces he looks both into the past and into the future. He embodies a moment in between, a point where something ends and something new begins.
Starting from this figure, the project turns its attention to the present. The “now” appears as a fragile threshold: a suspended moment between memory and expectation. Past and future touch and overlap, and for an instant their boundaries become uncertain.
The images translate this tension into layers, overlaps and ruptures. Forms emerge, dissolve and transform. Time becomes something fluid — a space in which identity is not fixed but continuously forming in transition.
The performative reading connects image and text. During the reading, a shared space of listening and resonance emerges where the central question of the work returns again and again: How long is now?
*Every evening at 8 pm and on Sunday at 6 pm there will be a performative reading of the text.*

Biography

Sabrina Bartolozzi

Sabrina Bartolozzi is a writer and visual artist based in Berlin since 2009. In her work, text and image meet and begin a conversation: sometimes harmonious, sometimes contradictory, sometimes slightly stubborn.
Words often find their way into images, and images sometimes return as text. Words become shapes, shapes become stories. Her work moves along the border between presence and absence, between dream and memory, between what is visible and what can only be sensed.
She is particularly interested in the in-between: the open space between word and image where meanings begin to shift and unexpected happens.
