KI.VooDoo - Blurring Boundaries

Jo Tiffe

4 July 2026 11:00–13:00 5 July 2026 11:00–13:00
tl;dr
In the genKI workshop, we explore the limits of visual AI and develop utopian futures – for the year 2041 – for everyone. Our tools are the open source AI Stable Diffusion and video generators (e.g. Kling).

Warm-up exercises (20-30 min.)
We start with a check-in: Which workshop language: German or English? How much knowledge about genAI is available in the group? Who has worked with what and how much? How do AIs influence the everyday lives of individuals?
After getting to know each other a little, we procure non-generated image material – as templates for the first prompts. We start with wild prompts around the images and then summarise in a flash.

Theory (10 min.)
This is followed by a bit theory on genAI models: What data sets do they work with? What does ‘diffusion model’ mean, for example? Which generator does what? What is the state of development? What is good prompting?

Practice (30-60 min.)
After comprehensive preparation, we now move on to the actual generation topic: desirable utopias in 2041. We divide into groups and conceptualise the prompts for key visuals, which we then convert into moving images using a video generator based on small storyboards.

Conclusion (10-25 min.)
Finally, we exchange ideas about our process.
If there is enough energy and interest, we put everything into a larger context and discuss more fundamental issues based on our shared experiences:
_ How to deal with biases? How should we respond to them?
_ How can we create a bright future for everyone? Can technology help us achieve this?

Exhibition
Participants can then present their selected works on a monitor.

Please bring your laptop and genAI account, if applicable. Basic equipment (SDXL) is available.

Biography

Jo Tiffe

Jo Tiffe is a media artist with roots in industrial design.
More than 20 years ago, she founded form:f, her design studio. It accompanied her through the ups and downs of the e-bike industry and is a boot camp for her current focus: media art. The change was unstoppable. It led from the IoT to open source and into the exciting world between art and technology, which crystallised as a new field of work. Critical research into genKI is a key focus.
Jo is active at Saloon & Haecksen Berlin and is the initiator of a critical AI round table.

In 2022, she launched a series of events that deal with an AI component on an annual basis. At the same time, she shows her work at festivals and in joint exhibitions, leads critical genAI workshops and gives talks.
