With long tradition of quality music and atmosphere the metaphysical status of the club was raised by its door police, performed by the bouncer, who curates who gets in and out, based on mysterious criteria.
The people represented in photos belong to the group of the unchosen. The work draws on the tension between curated inclusivity and the marketing power of exclusivity.
Through studio-like portraiture, the work invites viewers to search for patterns and critically question the selection criteria. The audience encounters the portrayed individuals from the perspective of the bouncers, encouraged to make judgments based solely on appearance. At the same time, the visible emotional impact of rejection creates a space for identification and empathy—challenging the viewer to reflect on their own biases, as well as their potential connection to the experience of being excluded.
