Maren Frey

3 July 2026 19:00–22:00 4 July 2026 16:00 – 5 July 2026 00:00
A sound-rich video follows the crows of Tempelhofer Feld, weaving their calls with experimental sounds and the ambient hum of the city. The camera tracks their movements among the trees, capturing the gentle dance of branches, shadows, and light as the seasons change. Their cries blend with the distant hiss of construction, creating a soundscape that blurs the line between “outside” and “inside.”

This piece forms a rhythmic collage of images and sounds, inviting viewers to notice the fluid boundaries between urban space and the natural world. By presenting Tempelhofer Feld as both background and active participant, it highlights the ongoing tension between control, decay, and the resilience of living ecosystems.

Filled with zooms and handheld shots, the video reflects the close connection between observer and observed, emphasizing vulnerability and connection.
The video taps into the layered symbolism of the raven, linking its traditional image to the present‑day political and emotional landscape of Tempelhofer Field.

As wise messengers between worlds, ravens voice the unconscious and issue warning signals, while also embodying adaptability, intelligence and social networking. Though many traditions cast them as omen‑bearing demons, other cultures honor their wisdom and role as teachers.

The screening takes place near Tempelhofer Feld, at Ikii, a gallery and listening space at Herrfurthplatz. Here, a Hi-Fi sound system and comfortable seating create an immersive, relaxing experience, encouraging the audience to engage with the voices of crows that shape city life.
